Yesterday morning apart from a few Gannets and a Shag not much seen on a very rough sea. Cirl Buntings, Yellowhammers, Chaffinches, Greenfinches feeding in the C.P. L.T.tits and first Blackcap singing,

Eds: The Yellowhammer is actually a female Cirl Bunting – see olive rump and the subtle ‘pencil line’ just above and behind the eye – both good id features for Cirl Bunting. Cirl Bunting numbers have been low at Broadsands this winter and despite making 3-4 visits a week this winter I’ve not seen a single Yellowhammer this year or the end of last year. I am guessing the presumably the reported ‘Yellowhammers’ were also female Cirl Buntings. There are at least 3 Reed Buntings (1 male and 2 females) there too.
