Walked a convoluted route through the lanes and woodland paths this morning, hoping for Goosanders on the reservoirs, but no luck, the low clouds obscuring all. Compensation came in the form of 100+Siskins, 50+Redwings, 10+Crossbills, Treecreeper, Marsh Tit, Yellowhammer and Sparrowhawk. Must have walked through 10+ Mistle Thrush territories, judging by the song. Best bird was a Barn Owl, floating along the woodland edge, looking more ghostly than normal in the mist.
