Whilst passing Blaxton Meadow hide a visiting birdwatcher told me he’d just seen a collie dog ran on to the scrape and killed a Shelduck. The owner threw the body into the bushes and calmly continued with their family walk. I was unable find the carcass and was unable to confront them on their behaviour.  It’s sad to reflect that dog owners don’t feel any need to control their dogs in places set aside for wildlife.
