Rounded up some of the usual suspects, namely 2 Goosanders in the river just below the bypass bridge, 6 Cattle Egrets with the Highland Cattle herd across the Tarka Trail from Penhill Marsh, and a Glossy Ibis in Fremington Creek. Also Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, and a final few Fieldfares and Redwings. No Common Gulls, but plenty of LBBs to replace them. Probably the most unusual encounter was with a singing Bullfinch at the Barnstaple end, quiet, tentative, mournful.

From the train on the way home, a further 10+ Cattle Egrets were in the fields between Barnstaple and Chapelton. Back in Exeter, more LBBGs have arrived, and the overwintering Blackcaps have started to sing.
