Presidents & Chairs
In 1991 a change to the Constitution saw the creation of the office of Chairman to replace the President at business meetings. The post of President thus became one of an ‘honorary’ position.
There was a major change to the Devon Birds Constitution in 1973 when a Council was established for administration purposes. Prior to this, all business was conducted at General Meetings of the Society. These meetings were chaired by the President of the day. The first Council meeting was held on 22 September 1973 and the President continued to take the chair until 1991. This was the year a further change to the Constitution saw the creation of the office of Chairman to replace the President at business meetings. The post of President thus became one of an ‘honorary’ position.
