Membership
Devon Birds is the only Devon County Bird Society, with a long and distinguished history dating back to 1928.
Since its inception, Society members have been organising and promoting the study and conservation of birds through fieldwork, recording, reserves management and publishing.
Membership is by subscription and entitles you to:
- Receive (optionally) by post the Annual Devon Bird Report, which includes a summary of all bird records submitted during the calendar year, colour photographs, scientific and other journal articles of interest (UK Postal addresses only)
- Receive four electronic Newsletters each year, updating you on events, activities, news and including a wide range of interesting articles
- Access our Documents Archive to view past publications and current Society documents.
- Meet other like-minded people at a range of events organised by Devon Birds throughout the year
- Attend illustrated talks given by leading speakers
- Take part in bird walks led by experienced birdwatchers at locations throughout the county and beyond
- Participate in surveys gathering valuable bird records for the Society and national organisations
- Visit the Society’s reserves and hides
- A vote in the AGM or any Extraordinary AGM
You will also be a member of one of the foremost County Bird Organisations, which is highly regarded in the country. Of equal significance is the fact that your membership fee helps to promote the conservation and protection of birds and wildlife within Devon.
PAYMENT AND MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Membership is annual, from 1st Jan to 31st December, and is available on payment of one of the subscriptions below. Membership payment renewals should be made by/on 1st January of the new subscription year, to continue to receive member benefits. NB If you wish to join during the year, after 1st January, PLEASE CAN YOU PAY BY CREDIT CARD using the link provided. Your New Membership will be valid until 31st December. We welcome members who wish to pay by Direct Debit and are pleased to accept completed mandates, however they will not start until 1st January the following year.
Household Membership – £18 for all members of the Household
Young Membership – FREE to people aged 25 and under
If you pay by non-recurring credit card, debit card, cheque or cash and forget to renew your membership, you will receive a reminder from the membership secretary within the early part of the new year. If, following this reminder no payment is received, you will be notified that your membership has lapsed and you will no longer have access to any membership benefits.

Young Membership – Free to people aged 25 and under.
