Scottish colour-ringed Cormorant at Slapton Ley
1 December 2009
While looking for the Great White Egret at Slapton Ley on 12 November, Mark Darlaston noticed a young Cormorant flying over. With camera in hand, he took a few quick flight shots but it wasn't until a few days later that he got around to looking at them… and made a discovery.
Leucistic Shag at Hope's Nose
24 November 2009
This photo of a leucistic Shag was taken by Brian Heasman at Hope's Nose. County recorder Mike Langman reports that a pure albino has also been seen in the area in the last couple of months – perhaps a local gene as several very pale/white undersided Shags have been seen along this part of the coast over the last decade.
