While fishing around 30 miles south of Start Point in mid-August, Rob Dart and Paul Bright saw a shearwater and a skua around Rob's boat. Back ashore, Paul sent this photo to Mark Darlaston, whose reply was “Great!” in every way…
Possible Fea's Petrel off Prawle Point

Mark Darlaston completed a hat-trick of Devon sightings of Fea's Petrel when he spent time seawatching at Prawle Point on 31 August – though he was very nearly side-tracked by an Icterine Warbler!

Ivan Lakin, Kevin Rylands, Mark Darlaston, Mike Langman and Tom Bragg were fortunate to witness a unique event off Berry Head on 2 September. During the day a fast-moving Atlantic depression (the rermains of ex-hurricane Danny) swept into the English Channel on a perfect trajectory for a good seawatch, bringing with it poor visibility and strong winds swinging from SW-SE and then SW-W all during the early afternoon and evening before clearing.
Balearic Shearwater off Berry Head

Last year, some intensive seawatching was carried out off Berry Head monitoring Balearic Shearwaters. Mark Darlaston reports that a few have started to arrive this year.
