Phil Stidwill took this shot of a Garden Warbler – an incredibly late one – in his Plymouth garden on 3 December.

Mike Langman reports that the latest ever date for a Garden Warbler in Devon is 8 December. Sylvia warblers do have the ability to survive our winters more than most warblers as they can boost their diet with berries and food from bird tables.
