Thanks to Roy Churchill for this magnificent close-up photograph of one of the two colour-ringed Spoonbills currently on the Taw Estuary near Fremington Quay.

This individual is thought to have been ringed at a breeding site in France but further details are awaited.

We've just received news from Dutch Spoonbill researcher and ringer Otto Overdijk that this Spoonbill (colour-ringed FJ9) is a female that was ringed as a nestling on 9 April 2007 near Seville, Spain.
